Can you draw pictures with graphs?
Model real life situations by translating them into algebraic equations and by using graphs.
Find approximate solutions of simultaneous linear equations using graphs. For example
y = 5x – 7
3x + 2y = 1
Plot families of exponential and reciprocal graphs. For example
y = 2x, y = 3x, y = 4x …
y = 1÷x, y = 2÷x, y = 3÷x, …
Reduce a given linear equation in two variables to the standard form y = mx + c; calculate gradients and intercepts of the graphs and then plot them to check.
Solve problems involving direct and inverse proportion using graphical representations.
Identify and interpret roots, intercepts and turning points of quadratic functions graphically.
Find the equations of the translations and reflections of graphs of given functions.
Use graphs to solve optimisation problems.
Investigate the absolute value function. Plot families of graphs and describe their characteristics. For example
y = |x2 – 5|
Graph inequalities to solve linear programming problems. more…
Plot the graphs of functions and their inverses by interchanging the roles of x and y. Find the relationship between the graph of a function and its inverse. Which functions inverses are also functions?
Graph Plotter is an application for building and analyzing function charts. Graph Plotter is able to build many types of charts, including parametric function charts, equation solution charts, etc. The user of the program can define the maximum and minimum values at a certain interval of the chart, calculate asymptotes and limits, use integrals and differentials, trigonometric functions, etc. The appearance of the charts is adjustable – you can use different colors, coordinate grid, etc. Created projects can be saved for later use. Tools are available for function analysis. There is a built-in engineering calculator.
Use the link below to download Graph. Graph is open source and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), which means that you may use it freely and give it to whomever you like.
SetupGraph-4.4.2.exe (9.6 MB)
Older versions and the source code for Graph is available from SourceForge.
The file is a self-extracting installation program. You just execute the file and the installation will ask in which directory you want to install Graph. The installation will add a shortcut to Start->Programs->Graph, which may be used to run Graph.
If an older version of Graph is already installed, you can just install the new version over it. There is no need to uninstall the old version first, but make sure Graph is not running during the installation process.
Under the installation you can choose between different languages for the user interface. This may be changed later from inside the program.
If later you wish to remove Graph, you can use the shortcut in Start→Programs→Graph.
This program is for drawing graphs of mathematical functions in a coordinate system. Graphs may be added with different color and line styles. Both standard functions, parameter functions and polar functions are supported. It is possible to evaluate a function at an entered point or tracing the function with the mouse. It is possible to add shadings to functions, and series of points to the coordinate system. Trendlines may be added to point series.
It is possible to save the coordinate system and everything on it as an image file. It is also possible to copy an image into another program. Text labels may be placed anywhere in the coordinate system.
Graph is a free software published in the Mathematics list of programs, part of Education.
This Mathematics program is available in English, Arabic, Basque, Chinese, ChineseSimplified, ChineseTraditional, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Mongolian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese. It was last updated on 2018-04-03. Graph is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows.
“Graph” is a powerful and feature-rich application that offers a convenient and effective solution to draw mathematical graphs in a coordinate system. Besides being comprehensive, it is provided for free and, as it’s also licensed as open source, its source code can be downloaded and modified.
“Graph” offers a wide variety of customization options and manipulation possibilities for the created graphs. The colors, sizes, or line styles of the graphs can be tweaked to your liking. It can plot standard functions, parametric functions and polar functions, while the most common functions like sin, cos, log, etc. are provided as built-in, by default. This powerful tool can also display graphs for equations and inequalities and allows adding shadings, point series, and trendlines to the graphs according to your preferences. Anyway, these are just a few of the many features and tools that this comprehensive program offers.
Creating your own custom constants and functions is also possible, as well as adding optional text labels to any graph. Even creating animations that show the exact changes that a function is encountering when a constant is tweaked, is possible.
I personally like a lot about this tool the fact that it can save the graphs to various image file formats, like BMP, PNG, JPEG, WMF, EMF, or even to SVG and PDF. It can also export the complete graph, with its coordinate system, into other programs, like MS Word.
Though very feature-rich, this powerful program is also easy to use. Its well-made interface is intuitive and straightforward, allowing even novice users to handle the application without requiring prior experience or lengthy learning sessions.
To sum it all up, “Graph” is practically flawless. It’s one of those impressive tools that leave no room for complaint. Its only downside is its uninspired name that makes finding it over the Internet a quite difficult job. Other than that, this program is simply great.
GP is aimed to be simple and fast tool to analyse numerical data. It does not claim to replace all other plotters.
- 2D plot with lines or dots from plain text table and binary files
- Multiple axes are supported by design
- Real time plotting from multiple asynchronous sources
- Export to PNG or SVG
